St. Nektarios of Aegina among the Macedonian faithful in Toronto

Writes Fr. Aleksandar Todorovski

On November 25th, the Macedonian Orthodox community in Toronto stood in the presence of St. Nektarios of Aegina. Many faithful came to bow before the relics of the great saint and pray at the evening vespers service.

We are thankful to Father Peter Busuioc from the Romanian Orthodox Church who showed us selfless love, as he said, toward the brotherly Macedonian people. With the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Metodij of the American-Canadian Macedonian Orthodox Diocese, Fr. Busuioc brought the relics to be displayed in the Diocese Cathedral “St. Clement of Ohrid”. Upon the arrival of the relics, a holy evening vespers service was held and attended by many priests of the Macedonian Orthodox Church.

After, the service, first Fr. Sasho Celeski gave a speech about the significance of the occasion, and then Fr. Peter Busiok, extensively detailed the life and miracles of St. Nectarius of Aegina, including those involving the relics brought to St. Clement. It was a beautiful sight to see when all the people with awe and piety approached to bow before the saint’s relics.
