The Miraculous Myrrh-Streaming “Hawaiian” Icon was solemnly welcomed for the second time in the church “St. Clement of Ohrid” – Toronto

With the blessing of His Eminence Mr. Methodious – Metropolitan of the American-Canadian Macedonian Orthodox Diocese, on October 28, 2024, the Miraculous Myrrh-Streaming “Hawaiian” Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos was solemnly welcomed for the second time this year in the Diocesan Cathedral Church “St. Climent of Ohrid” in Toronto.

Filled with great spiritual joy and sacred trepidation, the believers of the Macedonian Orthodox Church in Toronto again had the opportunity to bow before this great saint, after it happened for the first time in this temple on February 28, 2024.

In the presence of a large number of believers, the “Akathist Hymn to the Wonderworking Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos ” was performed in front of the icon, which was presided over by Very Reverend Nectarios in collaboration with parish priests, priests from other Macedonian Orthodox churches in Toronto and retired priests.

Bowing in front of the Icon, the believers were filled with the miraculous and inexpressible sweet fragrance that poured out from the Icon, and after the Akathist was served, they were anointed with the miraculous ointment that poured out from the Icon in plain sight of everyone.

The icon was brought by the iconophore, the keeper (guardian) of the icon, Very Reverend -stavrophore Nectarius Youngson, who, after announcing his arrival in Toronto, himself expressed a desire to visit St. Clement’s Temple again, due to the great interest and desire of the faithful to worship again, and to kiss the Miraculous Icon.

Iconophore archpriest-stavrophor Nectarius Youngson, at the 50th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Cathedral Church “Nativity of the Virgin Mary” in Sterling Heights, Detroit, USA, was awarded the Order of St. Climent of Ohrid – III order, according to the Decision of the Holy Bishop Son of MOC-OA, from September 12, 2024, for the love shown to the believers of AKMPE, by carrying the icon of worship in the churches of the diocese.

From Thy Holy Icon, O Lady Theotokos, blessed myrrh has flowed abundantly. Thou hast thereby consoled those in exile faithful unto Thee and hast enlightened the unbelievers by Thy Son’s light. Therefor, O Lady, with tears we bow down to Thee: be merciful to us in the hour of judgment, lest having received Thy mercy, we be punished as those who have been contemptuous of it, but grant us through Thy prayers to bring forth spiritual fruit and save our souls.
